Jang Hyun Seung is a lead vocalist of Korean Boy Band Beast. Hyun Seung first received media attention as a trainee under YG Entertainment, when he was preparing to debut as a member of Big Bang. He appeared in 10 out of 11 episodes of the Big Bang Documentary, but he wasn't chosen to be a part of the final group formation by YG's president.

He received a lot of concerns from management when BEAST was being formed, as the first thing the members were instructed to do was have Hyun Seung gain weight.

Why did Jang Hyun Seung get cut from big bang?

Jang Hyun Seung got cut because pre-debut of Big Bang, in episode 9 of their documentary, there was a competition between SO-1 and Seung Ri. YG chose Seung Ri over SO-1 because they thought SO-1 didn't have the "star quality" that Seung Ri did. In other words, SO-1 was too shy to be a big enough stage prescence, and he lip-synced rather than actually sang. I personally like SR, but SO-1 was so cute..

Jang Hyun Seung is formerly known as Big Bang’s So-1.

Cube Entertainment’s newest group BEAST (formerly known as “B2ST” ) celebrated their immediate debut with, what else, a showcase. The group performed a variety of songs from their debut album, including a live ballad “Oasis, and fellow company group 4minute made an appearance. However, the most gossip-worthy moment of the night came courtesy of G-dragon who left the group, specifically Jang Hyun-seung, a congratulatory message.



Says Mr. Heartbreaker, “I found out about BEAST’s debut through the internet. HyunSeung, whom I’m close to and love, is in BEAST. He’s worked long and hard for his debut so please give him much love and support. BEAST, hwaiting!”

I've never thought that G-Dragon has this extent of having this attitude of showing support for erstwhile fellow YG Trainee/BigBang aspirant Jang Hyun-seung. For those who are new to K-pop scene (actually, it's these most recent times when I get hooked onto K-pop boybands), there was a show called THE BIGBANG DOCUMENTARY wherein there will be 6 trainees will undergo gruelling training and selection to YG Entertainment's BIGBANG. Initially, YG wants to select only 4 members until under some circumstances, in ended up 5. Jang Hyun-seung was one of the trainees together with Kwon Ji-yong (G-Dragon), Dong Yong-bae (Taeyang), Kang Daesung, Lee Seung-hyun (Seung-ri) and Choi Seung-hyun (TOP).

BEAST‘s powerful vocalist, HyunSeung, celebrated his birthday yesterday with his fellow members and fans!

On September 3, HyunSeung finally turned 21 years old (22 in Korean age). This being his first birthday since his debut with BEAST, everyone wanted to make this birthday was particularly special!



BEAST’s fan club baked a delicious cake for HyunSeung, and in their fan cafe, they wrote the message, “One shot of the birthday cake he received from the fans! The cake was so pretty… so if we placed candles on the cake, we were afraid that the mini doll decoration of Hyunseung would melt so we just took a picture without lighting it ^-^;;(Disappointing but we didn’t take a picture of the part ㅠ-ㅠ Please forgive us )”

Fellow BEAST members also gave their congratulations to HyunSeung through their various internet sites. On his Twitter, JunHyung affectionately wrote, “Happy birthday, HyungSeung Jang. Since you’re a year older now stop stop fibbing. Kekeke” while DooJoon said, “Happy birthday, Hyonseung Jang! Is Yong Junhyung the only one left this year…”

Through his YOZM account, maknae DongWoon cutely wrote, “HyunSeung hyung, I’m not lying, happy birthday!!! Everybody say congrats~~~”

According to the members of BEAST during interviews, they stated that Hyunseung from the group has a really pretty younger sister whom he takes care of really dearly. Yoon Doo Joon Leader of Beast Profile

Yoon Doo Joon is a leader of Korean Boy Band Beast. Prior to debut he appeared in fellow bandmate AJ's Wipe the Tears MV alongside Yong Jun Hyung as a rapper and backup dancer.

Yoon Doo Joon was a trainee from JYP Entertainment. He is the oldest member of the group, and the second tallest.

After success in his group, Yoon Doo Joon turned into an actor. He acted in Korean Drama More Charming By The Day, and All My Love.

Beast (B2ST) Korea Boy Band Profile and Member

Beast is a new boyband from South Korea under CUBE Entertainment. The group consists of 6 members. Originally the group were known as B2ST (Boys to Search for Top). However, their name was changed to BEAST (Boys of EAst Standing Tall),a couple of days before they debuted.

Beast members consists of : Yoon Du Jun, Jang Hyun Seung, Yong Jun Hyung, Yang Yo Seob, Lee Gi Kwang, Son Dong Woon.



On October 14, 2009, they released their first mini-album BEAST Is the B2ST on the same day they also held a showcase performance on MTV. To date, the mini-album has shipped over 10,000 copies. Before debuting the group was featured in a MTV documentary titled MTVnB2ST, which showcased their journey leading up to their debut.

Beast Debut 2009

In late 2009, news articles started to surface online about Cube Entertainment's new group, B2ST (pronounced "BEAST") as explained by member, Dong Woon, in episode 8 of their MTV documentary MTV B2ST which showcased their journey leading up to their debut. On October 14, the group's first mini-album, Beast Is The B2ST, was released selling over 20,000 copies in October 2009 and has even further reached 40,000 copies sold in sales to date.



A Cube Entertainment representative for BEAST revealed that they have sold all the albums they printed in the first batch and are tentatively planning to produce 5,000 more and also considering reissuing AJ's album due to strong demands. On October 16, they made their live debut on KBS Music Bank with their debut track, "Bad Girl". The group became very popular after debuting, following various commercial calls from companies around Asia. On December 2, 2009, BEAST won their first award, Rookie of the Month, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It was later announced by Cube Entertainment that

Universal Records would be assisting BEAST and 4minute with international launches of their albums.




BEAST, the only rookie to sell over ’100,000′ albums in 2010!

Boy group BEAST consisting of 6 members have made a splendid achievement as a rookie idol by selling more than 100,000 copies in 2010.

According to album sold research site Hanteo Chart on the 11th, BEAST who debuted last year on October have sold 107,006 copies from January 1st to October this year with 4 of their released albums including their first album.

BEAST is the only rookie group out of all the boy/girl groups who have sold over 100,000 copies when they have debuted only a little past a year now. This proves BEAST’s formidable popularity.

For a rookie group, Beast have shown that their fan base is a force to be reckoned with. This year alone, they topped every other rookie group with album sales exceeding 100,000 in copies. That is a whole lot of Shock and Soom going around.

Although they only came in 5th in total album sales for the year (SNSD took the lead with 300,000 copies sold), they still managed to impress, especially as a rookie group.
